I picked étude Op 10 No 3 “Tristesse” as my first because the melody is very beautiful. However, I decided to learn my first Chopin étude in 2021 because I really want to improve my skill. Well, they are listed by ABRSM as beyond grade 8 piece anyway.
I’ve been learning piano since teenager, but I couldn’t perform any of the études, because I think it is too difficult for my level. Fun fact: these études were written when Chopin was in his early 20s. These études are one of the most technically challenged piano pieces ever made. One of the works that I adore is his études, which consist of 2 sets, Op 10 and Op 25, 12 pieces each set. To me, he was a genius pianist and one of the biggest composer in the 19th century.
